Pros:Overall this is a nifty DV camera. I did some research before buying and am pleased with it. It also has a digital camera with a memory slot built in, (something that many other name brands in this price range don't have) and I found no problem hooking it up to my Mac with a firewire cable.Cons:indoors, in low light ,the quality tends to be grainy. This seems to be true however with the other name brands,(yes even the Canon ZR80), in this price range of DV camcorders.
The most common problems that people have with transferring digital video to computer seem to be one of these three things.
1)A firewire cable,card or device is missing for transferral
2)The computer itself needs system updates(ex:Disk Utility) so that everything runs smoothly.
3)The Camcorder itself has a defect and needs to be repaired

I was not pleased at all with this camcorder. The video quality is very grainy especcially in low light. Although it is a compact easy to use camcorder the video quality is horrible. The USB connection is most frustrating as well. For me it diddnt even import the video, you cant get the computer to detect it either. I dont know if i have to get a firewire thing or what. I got this samsung video camera not knowing what to expect after reading all these reviews. Well I'm happy to say it works great. The NightShot is way fun and it takes great quality video for the money. Now the camera part of it I would say is crappy. It looks as good as my webcam but I didn't buy it for the camera. I got a 2 MegaPixel Fuji FinePic for that. I bought a 32MB memory stick knowing that the camera peobable wouldn't be that good. I bought a $4.00 FireWire cable to hook up to my Audigy FireWire port. And the video's that I can download with it to my computer look awesome. I'm going to buy a DVD burner next and have even more fun. I also bought a wideangle and a 2X telephoto lens for it and the wideangle really helps indoors where u really need to see more area at once. I bought premium sony tapes for it and they work great. I think some of the people having problems with video probable bought lower quality tapes. I think if your buying this for yourself and not profesional video you will be extremely happy with this Digital Samsung Camcorder.Customer Review: Bravo Samsung!!

I saw where numerous persons where having problems with the artifacting.. I found the cause to be dirty heads right from samsung... I bought a head cleaner and now all my problems that I did have are non exsistant! I wasnt to happy about the cleaning issue though
